Frequently asked Questions

How old are you?

17 according to years and time (which I’m not a fan of). But in my mind I’m still very young, but old at the same time. I think because I know I have so much to learn, but I know I have some wisdom of my past lives thats been collected.

Any Good Buddhist books?

An Introduction to Buddhism by Geshe Kang Gyatso. Thats Buddhism in a nutshell, and relates the theories to the modern world, so it really makes sense to anyone :) (Not saying you couldn’t handle the complex stuff, haha).

How do you dread your hair?

How do you meditate, and what is it like?

Well I usually meditate at night, when I wont be interrupted. And i sit down, usually on the floor, with a candle going, and I focus on my breathing, and clear my mind. Once I feel I have control of my breath I recite a buddhist mantra “Om mani padme hum” then I sit, and I just exist. It’s a different experience every time for me, sometimes I feel my mind seperating from my body. Sometimes I feel a strong connection with the body and mind. And sometimes I feel like I’m getting pulled to the earth, like something is calling me. But the only thing that stays consistant is that afterwards I’m all happy-go-lucky, and I dont have a single negative thought. It’s hard to explain I think, but thats what meditation is like for me. Sometimes I’ll concentrate really hard on a problem, for a really long time, then I get a sense of a guidance, and how to fix things.

What is the best way to meditate?

The best way is to just sit down, with no interruptions, and just clear your mind. When you get a thought, try to focus on your breathing. Do this until you have control of your breath and are calm. Otherwise continue doing this. The most important thing is patience. Then clear your mind, and usually wonderful things happen. You’ll feel connections, and vibrations, if not, you should just be in a state of ultimate relaxation. The reason meditation doesnt work for some people is because they over think it. Be patient, and it will come :)

What do you do to your hair? etc

I’m very low maintenance with my hair. I use whatever shampoo is in my shower, and I wash my hair every day. Sometimes I’ll use morrocan oil. I cut it myself. Usually an inch off every 2 months or so. And it’s not dyed. Unless I do like a temporary pink or something, haha.

What is the meaning behind your url?

I named it Woodstock reborn, because it’s my personal blog, and the title represents me, haha. So first of all, I have a huge obsession with Woodstock, and all the bands that played there are my favorites, or have a similar tune to my favorite artists. I agree with the ideals associated with the 60’s. And also I’m Buddhist, so I believe in rebirth, and I believe that in a past life I grew up in that time, and that was the era that suited me best. So therefore, “Woodstock” because it’s my idea of paradise, and the best generation for music in my opinion. And “Reborn” because I feel like I belonged in that time, and in a past life, I experienced it, and I was reborn with the same love for peace and freedom and the tunes of that generation.

What do you want to do with your life?

I want to own a commune, and expand it and hopefully someone will continue it and it can like influence the world. I want to own a really lovely vintage/hippie store called woodstock reborn, where I choose all the clothes, and I’ll display high school students art to give them some “publicity, and I’ll choose all the tunes in my shop, and it’ll just be a really good scene. And outside there will be a parked van where I’ll sell vegetarian sandwiches and smoothies for fair prices, or people can trade stuff, like clothes for the store for food. And I want to do free therapy for people. All this can be in my commune. I’d like to do work with WWF, and be like a speaker for them, or some animal charity. I’d like to be an artist of sorts. And I want to grow my own food, and maybe have a stand at a market as well. I want to be a independent fashion designer. And remake clothes from the 60’s. And I want to become a tie-dye pro, and make really soft 60’s pants with beautiful tie-dye designs. And most importantly, I want to go to China, Denmark and Nepal and reenforce the laws against animal cruelty. Because they don’t really have people who do that. I want to shut down factory farms and fur farms. And also make as many peoples lives better. Like invite people to my commune as a sort of rehabilitation thing, and have deep chats, and sort of give them that free therapy, and help them get started on a happy life. And I want to teach meditation to people, and the benefits. And I want to travel and go on long camping trips. Like just me and my kayak for a few months tenting and all that fun stuff. Yea, the list goes on and on. :)

What would you say to someone who’s really insecure about their looks/thinks they’re fat?

I would most likely say don’t focus on that! If your body is capable to move, take you on adventures, bring you pleasure, be a case for the lovely soul that lies beneath, who cares what it looks like! Every single person is miraculous and beautiful! And I’m not just saying that. We are all created by a mysterious thread in the stars and handmade with love by mother nature and the cosmos. You are handcrafted and completely unique in every way imaginable! And it’s important for you to realize that, and love the fact that you are what you are, and whatever you are is perfect. And it’s a waste of time, and very discouraging to over think appearance. I mean, our media has a certain way of saying what’s beautiful and what isn’t, and it’s endlessly thrown in our faces, so there comes a point where you believe that beauty comes in one breed. Which is so fucking messed up! Because I find something special and so uniquely beautiful in everyone. And even people who aren’t conventionally “beautiful” if they truly are lovely on the inside, it’s so damn easy to see beauty and appeal in them, because it shows through! And everyone is attracted to something different. For example, my best friend and I have completely different taste in men. I like guys who look very natural, very raw and odd looking in a sense. And my friend digs guys in suits with short hair and all fancy, or big black men. So you are guaranteed to find people who are attracted to you! So don’t sweat it! Just let yourself be, and learn to love everything. I find people with “flaws” much more attractive than the pristine clean and conventional type. Just accept that you are made by something magical and cosmic, and it’s rather miraculous thinking of it all. Well it is for me at least. But I guarantee. whoever you are, you are beautiful in more ways than you may see.
